The White tails went to the Wild Bird Care Centre over on Moodie Drive along with A Pack on the 16th October. They learned about bird adaptations of beaks and feet.
Afterwards we went for a little hike to feed the chickadees. Along the way we found a porcupine up in a tree. Several blue jays were spotted too.

Here is a map to No'Chimik (5943 Second Line Road, South of Manotick).
From 1st Manotick Beavers Colony A |
If the map is a bit small, here are the directions:
From Manotick Main Street - head South
Go through the town of Manotick and turn right onto Century Road.
Go all the way to the end of Century Road
Turn left onto Second Line
Turn Left at No'Chimik (5943) - up the long driveway to the house/barn.
There is a Scouts sign at the end of the driveway.
Go through the swing gate to the parking area. The parking area may be a bit wet at No'Chimik depending on the weather. If it is, don't go through the gate, and park around the barns and near the house instead. That way noone should get stuck!
After you park, follow the road down to the bottom of the hill. The campfire pit is to the right in the trees. Because there will be a lot of people it would be especially appreciated by the owners of the camp if we can Carpool. Please do your best to accomodate this.
See you there!

Some of our Scouting Alumni !
As a Scout, Steve's Love of adventure was awakened when he took his first step into the wilderness. And every step he's taken since- to NASA, Stanford University, and of course, in outer space - is part of a journey that began many years agoaround a campfire, with friends. Since 1907, Scouts Canada has given Scouts like Dr Maclean the confidence to explore the frontiers of laser physics, gymnastics and space. And needless to say, the results have been out of this world. Learn more about them at scouts.ca/today

2011 Council Beaveree - Wild West
1st Manotick A Colony had a marvelous time at the Voyageur Council Beaveree despite the rain. Over 250 Beavers were in attendance at this 3 year event. We camped at Lombardy Fair grounds the night before and during the night we were woken up by the sounds of Coyotes howling in the night along with the yipping of their young pups. A fitting orchestra given that the theme to the council beaveree was 'Wild West'.
The activities ranged from a western obstacle course, Horse shoe toss, Attack the cows with a trebuchet, Campfire , Bull horn toss, cowboy hat decoration, Tin can alley 'Rifle' range (elastic bands), Snakes in the grass and more!
We all had fun!
