February 25, 2013

Quick heads up folks - I was just informed/reminded that the school gym is not available to us Tuesday night. St Jerome is running a blood donor clinic in their gym, so we the Leaders have to think quickly and come up with a plan B.

Odds are high we'll capitalize on the mild weather, and have some snow fort fun outside. Keep your eye out here in the AM Tuesday, we'll have an updated posted before 9AM on Tuesday.

** Tuesday morning edit. Yes, we will be playing outside in the snow outside tonight. We'll meet out front of the school and make our way to the cool snowbanks around by the tennis courts. Pick up and drop off will be at the school front door, as usual. Bundle up, we'll see you tonight.

Hey Everybody the weather forecast looks favorable so we are going to have a skating night tonight at the community rink beside Steve Maclean school. Even though it is predicted to be quite mild, please bundle your Beaver up appropriately - including helmets.

We will have a soccer ball or two, for some skate-soccer type games .....but tonight will mostly be a nice leisurely evening skate with friends. Parents and siblings are more than encouraged to attend as well. Please keep in mind that this is a public rink, and that other folks will be there enjoying the rink as well.

See you tonight at 6:15 at the Steve Maclean rink!!

February 12, 2013

Tonight's going to be slightly different folks, for our brown and blue (5 and 6 year old Beavers) it is a regular meeting in the Gym. We'll be doing some Valentine's day crafts with a sprinkle of fun and games as well.

White tails (7 year old Beavers), have been invited to join the Kub Kar Rally at St. Francis Xavier High School with C Pack. A Colony's Hawkeye (Bill) will be joining the white tails at St. FX .........Be sure to bring your Beaver Buggy's!!! It should be a fun night of racing with the Cub's.

NOTE: Cub's meet from 6:30 to 8, which might be a little long for your liking. If you would prefer to pick up your Beaver after 1 hour (Our usual meeting length) feel free. If you are not familiar with the St. FX school, pick up and drop off are around to the left side of the building. Enter the school there, and walk down the hall to the left and you will see the doors to the gym on the right.

Have fun!

February 5, 2013 - Race Night!

I'd love to say that it is a regular old meeting in the Gym tonight, but it is going to be far from regular.

It's Beaver Buggy race night! We'll be racing our buggies on big awesome tracks tonight all night. Please be sure to remember to bring your decorated Buggy (and indoor shoes, the usual)!!

We will have a 'Buggy Pit' setup, where we can make any last minute fixes and/or adjustments, like adding weight.

Remember ..........buggies race on tracks, do not modify the bottom of your car in any way. You risk dragging the center rail if your car runs low. Nothing can stick out the sides past the wheels either, or they will interfere with the car in the next lane.

Beavers ............Take your marks! Get set!!......GO!!!

January 29, 2013

Regular meeting in the Gym tonight folks. Please try to remember to bring your beaver buggies, we'll be talking about them, building a little, and talking about our Moster Buggy Rally next week.

Some fun run around games of course too (Mini sticks was a huge hit last week!) so please bring some indoor shoes.

NOTE: I have collected a number of neckers, hats and parts of uniforms. Please do your best to find all of your Beaver's uniform parts, and we'll do our best to ensure that everyone has all of their kit tonight too.

Beaveree heads up

Beaveree is tomorrow! .....click that link for my original post with all the details.

The only part of our uniform required, is the necker. Please bundle your beaver up, and put the necker on the outside of their winter duds. Our unique maroon/grey necker will help your Beaver's leaders identify our otherwise unrecognizable collection of bundled up beavers. .......remember, this is a Beaveree, there will be beavers from all over the region in attendance.

Beaver Buggies!

It's that time of year again folks, it's Beaver Buggy time!!!! over the next 3 or 4 weeks we will be talking about and building buggies; your beaver will hopefully get pretty excited about building and racing his very own 2013 edition Beaver Buggy.

What is a Beaver Buggy, you ask? ...........it's kind of like a kub-kar, but without all of the pressure. When you first see it, it will be a mere block of wood, with some nails and wheels. Your Beaver (with your help) will turn these crude materials, into an awesome racing mobile. On February 5th, we will have a giant set of tracks setup in in our gym, and we'll be racing Buggies all evening. Not long after that, our white tails will be invited to join in with a local Cub pack, to race their buggies with Kub-Kar's. Fun!

January 22, 2013

Regular meeting in the Gym tonight folks, see you at 6:15. I'll be posting a bit more info about this weekend's Beaveree, all of the specifics are in a previous post.

(Please remember to bring indoor shoes tonight! :)

Tobogganing and Beaveree

4:20 PM Jan 15 update - see you at the hill at 6:15!
~~~~~
On January 15, we'll be having an evening of tobogganing at Four Seasons park, our neighborhood sliding hill (Limited parking available by the tennis courts). I would like to encourage all parents, and even siblings to join us - it should be a fun hour of sliding over at the hill.
Please dress warm! (Toboggans / slides will not be provided, please bring your own).
NOTE: This is a public park there may be other folks enjoying the slopes with us that evening. If the weather or slope conditions are horribly rotten, we will call it off and meet in the Gym for a regular indoor meeting instead. I'll update this blog post at 3PM on the 15th with firm direction.
Beaveree (click, for details) is on Saturday the 26th. The cost of this event is $5/Beaver, and it runs from 1 to 4PM out at the Greely Legion. I'll have a sign up sheet with us at the toboggan hill, please bring $5 so we can firm up our numbers for the event organizers. .......as per the event details, please bring a mug and a shoe-box/Kleenex box!!
